Data General DG/One with Printer
and DG/One Model 2

Donor of the system Vernon Weiss (who was a product manager for the Data General PC group) writes:

I will throw in the DG 1 serial thermal printer and the Walkabout portable terminal. The Walkabout was designed to allow people to check their email remotely via modem. It had GG, DEC and other emulations built into it. It was a great idea that was ahead of the hardware curve and was expensive.

Curator's note: The DG/One is the first laptop with a full sized LCD screen. Revolutionay at the time it suffered from low readability. DG responded later with the Model 2 (EL) which has a brighter screen and a built-in hard drive. Vernon very kindly sent this the following to us in the Fall of 2003:

1. DG1 LCD dual floppies
2. DG 1 EL screen hard drive
3. DG 1 serial thermal printer
