This wonderful book is a collection of papers representing the key research of the first decade of Xerox PARC. This was given to DigiBarn curator Bruce Damer by John Seely Brown (then director of PARC) on a visit to PARC in 1989 when he was working with Xerox through Elixir Technologies Corp.
It has been said that PARC was "long on demos and short on publication". We hope that our presentation of this volume presents a bit of a case that a lot of work was in fact published in PARC's first decade.
