DigiBarn Books:
CRAY at Chippewa Falls, photography by Lee Friedlander

Thanks Tony Cole for providing this rare and special book on the building of Cray computers at Chippewa Falls, WI. Many of the workers who built these machines were women whom Seymour Cray selected for their talents as weavers or at other fabric arts and crafts. Their discipline and culture of perfection helped to accomplish hundreds of miles of wiring with precision. Pictured here is the construction of a Cray X-MP and possibly also Cray 1s (but the book may be too late for that). This book was published in 1987.
